Armoured Mobility has again demonstrated the resilience of its armoured vehicles by subjecting a Land Rover Discovery 4 to rigorous gunfire tests at Securex 2024.
At Securex 2024, the bullet-riddled Disco drew significant attention, displaying the durability of Armoured Mobility’s armour solutions. The vehicle endured extensive gunfire from a 9mm handgun, .44 Magnum, AK-47 (7.62×39), and R1 Rifle (7.62×51). This dramatic demonstration was complemented by video footage, to reinforce the vehicle’s robust defence capabilities.

The tests were conducted at the Gerotek Test Facilities in Pretoria, ensuring rigorous and controlled conditions overseen by ballistic experts and analysts. The Land Rover featured B6 ballistic armour and glass on the front windscreen, rear glass, and driver’s side, while the front passenger and rear on the same side were equipped with B4 armour. This setup allowed for a comparative assessment of both B4 and B6 protection levels.
Despite the extensive damage to the vehicle’s exterior, there was no penetration into the cabin, an achievement crucial for the company’s ongoing armoured certification with ARMSCOR.
For those interested in seeing the vehicle up close, Armoured Mobility allows viewings at their Sandton showroom at 168 Grayston Drive.
