However, before we get to the new models, let’s take a look at the engine options. The latter includes the Japanese manufacturer’s 2.4-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel and 2.8-litre unit featuring the same number of cylinders. The former churns out 110 kW and 400 N.m, the latter of which is available from a lowly 1 600 to 2 000 r/min. This powertrain is available with the choice of two transmission options, a six-speed manual gearbox and a self-shifter with the same number of cogs.
The familiar 2.8-litre oil-burner produces 150 kW and 500 N.m of torque, available from 1 600 to 2 800 r/min in the rev band. This engine is exclusively coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains are available.
Incorporating mild-hybrid tech, the new additions to the line-up employ the same tried-and-tested 2.8-litre powertrain. However, thanks to the 48V setup, boosts of 12 kW and 65 N.m are available. However, this system not only provides increased power and torque; Toyota says it also reduces fuel consumption by 10%.
